Mrs. Kona Koon Barnes
Mrs. Kona Koon Barnes, is a Liberian residing in Australia. She was born and raised in the borough of New Kru Town as a kid. She has lived in Australia for the past eleven years with regular travels to Liberia. During the Civil crisis, she sought refuge in Waterloo Refugee Camp, Sierra Leone and completed her primary high school. She was opportune to travel to Australia where she studied and obtained a Bachelor Degree in International Social Development from Western Sydney University; Bachelor Degree in Nursing from the Avondale College, post graduate Master’s Degree in Nursing at Western Sydney University Parramatta in Australia.
Since then, she has been active in medical service, treating patients with various conditions as well mental counselling. She is well experienced and has worked with these old folks for a very long time
Her recent travel to Liberia was so pathetic, the elderly people were languishing in the street corners with poor health condition and begging for handouts. Predicated upon this, she decided to establish Nagbedee aged and Disability Care initiative to help restore the dignity of these aging people, providing food and medication.
“This is a clarion call to those who share similar vision. Join us to help these homeless and hungry old folks. We need to set the pace and create an enabling environment because we will be as old as they are too“
